The EReg Topic Group XX on GDPR in International Data Exchange focuses on data protection in international data exchange. Its aim is to create a code of conduct for vehicle and driver registration authorities when dealing with data protection in international data exchange.
The creation of codes of conduct are encouraged based on Article 40-42 of the GDPR. This states that codes of conduct contribute to the proper application of this Regulation, as it takes into account the specific features and needs of a sector. A code of conduct helps associations specifying the purpose of application of the Regulation on matters such as fair and transparent processing and the collection of personal data.
The code of conduct that EReg aims to draft is intended to further specify the data protection requirements of the GDPR for vehicle and driver registration authorities when engaging in international data exchange.
