Introduction
Sustainable mobility is an important topic and stands high on the agenda on the European Commission and EReg. While the European Commission and Member State are moving towards zero-emission and more circular mobility, the topic touches vehicle authorities as well. There is a lot to be learned from the way in which different countries deal with sustainability challenges in the mobility domain and the tasks that the registration authorities in the respective countries perform.
The Academy focuses on “the key role registration authorities can play in the transition towards sustainable mobility”. With the academy EReg likes to create awareness to the broader sense of developments on sustainable mobility.
Programme:
The agenda of the academy consists of a wide range of topics that all relate to sustainable mobility. We expect that this richly filled programme in the morning will serve as inspiration for the discussions in the afternoon.
In the morning programme, different speakers will present about relavant topics. Invited are speakers from the European Committee, including Jaco Huisman who will give an update on the End-of-life Vehicle proposal. And Katalin Lakatos, who will talk about the role vehicle registration authorities play a in the implementation of the CO2 standards for light- and heavy-duty vehicles. Furthermore, best practices of EReg members will be shared. The Norwegian Public Roads Administration (Norway) will present on past achievements and future goals for climate neutral road transport in Norway. And the Directorate General for Traffic is going to present about the management of the entire process of vehicles at the end of their life in Spain.
In the afternoon, a workshop will be organised in which the EReg members will brainstorm and define an action plan to form a new Topic Group in on sustainable mobility.
